South Yorkshire has some beautiful wedding venues and is a fantastic place to be a wedding photographer as well as a wonderful place to live! We have some magnificent venues in and around our home town of Sheffield both in the city itself, in the surrounding countryside and in the towns and cities around us with many being less than an hours drive away. As mentioned, there are some amazing towns and cities in the Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire region as well as further away. We enjoy photographing weddings at some of the familiar locations but we always welcome the opportunity to work somewhere new.
I love this image above taken in Elmfield Park which is in Doncaster. The park is situated very close to Doncaster racecourse and makes a good stop-off point on the way from the wedding to the reception. This was shortly after the wedding of Nicola and Dan at Saint Mary's, the parish church of Sprotbrough, a wonderful village near Doncaster. This image is a combination colour and monochrome (black and white) image with the couple picked out in colour and the background colour removed to give this colour and monochrome effect. I don't do too many of these but on odd occasions they do give an interesting effect and help separate the subject from the background, this one works really well with this image.
Following capturing these photos we moved on to the reception at the Racecourse itself. The reception took place in the weighing room which is far more spectacular than it sounds!.. The party went on well into the night with with a bouncy castle for the children, and perhaps a couple of adults and the end of the Wedding Day rounded off with a special firework display.
The image below is from the first wedding we photographed at the wonderful Mount Pleasant Hotel located near to Rossington between Bawtry and Doncaster on the Great North Road. The grounds around the Mount Pleasant Hotel in Doncaster are beautiful and offer some wonderful photography opportunities. We always relish the chance to visit somewhere new and create some images in new and unfamiliar surroundings. The photograph seen below was taken in the hotel grounds following this couples wedding ceremony.
During the time we have been wedding photographers we have photographed a number of weddings in Doncaster and the surrounding area. There are some amazing wedding venues around us and we are always surprised and pleased when we are invited to photograph a wedding somewhere new. The Mount Pleasant Hotel is an amazing venue and we really enjoyed our time spent here with this fabulous couple and their family and friends and would love to return here to explore the venue further and create some more pictures for another couple on their wedding day. For anyone wanting a wedding venue on the outskirts of Doncaster this really is one surprising venue that really should be checked out as it is a wonderful hidden gem of a venue!
