We feel we are in a very fortunate position being wedding photographers from Sheffield. We get to meet many, many wonderful people, a great deal of whom invite us to their wonderful weddings! These weddings take place in some stunning locations in and around the city and sometimes much further away. This photograph is from a wedding at the Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria Hotel located in the heart of Sheffield. It shows the bride and groom on their way down this magnificent staircase in the hotel to greet their guests at the beginning of their evening reception. This hotel has at least two of these wonderful staircases with the second one we know about seen here with the brides wedding dress hanging from the banister, there may well be others hidden away that we haven't yet discovered, but this one is simply stunning and needs seeing first-hand to really be fully appreciated in all its glory.
This was not our first visit to this wonderful building. We have both been here before for various functions, but it was the first wedding we have photographed here. While it is nice to work in the comfort zone of old familiar venues, we love the opportunity to visit somewhere new and create pictures on the wedding day of our couples. When photographing in a new venue we are free for previous influences from having worked there before. This is in terms of photographic style and preconceived ideas of the pictures we want to create. It gives us a fresh chance to be creative, to produce something new and unique for us, and to help our couples remember their wonderful wedding day.
