I'm fascinated by interesting reflections and reflective surfaces and am always on the lookout for something that will provide an interesting reflection. Something like a lake or a pond is an obvious one as we see here in this wedding day image from a wedding at Whitley Hall Hotel in Sheffield. Even if it is an obvious reflection it is still worth trying to incorporate it into a picture given half a chance as it can add an extra dimension to an image! There are many lakes and ponds we have come across on our travels but not all of them provide the ideal location for the happy couple to be in to get an image for them. This lake at Whitley Hall does give good access if not a little awkward but it can be worth a little effort to get you your pictures.
We have photographed weddings at Whitley Hall on numerous occasions now and still have a thrill as we walk around the grounds with our couples. The lake here is an expansive body of water and is usually very calm making for a excellent mirror to provide a still reflection at normal shutter speeds.
