The Kenwood Hall Hotel in Sheffield has some of the most extensive and spectacular grounds of any of the wedding venues we have had the pleasure to photograph in. It doesn’t matter what time of year, there is always something wonderful to see and photograph in the grounds. This portrait of the bride and groom was taken at their wedding in early November. Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year with the spectacular autumn foliage colours just begging to become part of our wedding day photographs.
Even though we have been photographing at Kenwood Hall almost since we started our wedding photography business back in 2005, I still find it hard to believe just how far the grounds of this suburban hotel stretch, particularly when you consider it is located so close to the centre of Sheffield. There are always some new quiet little places to seek out when photographing a couple on their wedding day. We always try to spend some time with our couples to stroll around the grounds of Kenwood Hall, or for that matter wherever they choose to have their wedding day portraits.
The grounds at Kenwood Hall are always immaculate at any time of year but I have a particular fondness for the autumn season with the vivid fall colours in full flow. While the greens of summer are something many of us look forward too, particularly after a long cold and grey winter, the bright oranges and yellows of this penultimate season of the year can give something of a wonderful and warm look to our photographs. We have come across many couples who particularly want their wedding at this time of year to make the most of these fantastic colours, and choose to have their wedding at a venue like the Kenwood Hall just because they love the colours the foliage can offer. We love to incorporate this into our pictures from wedding days as much as we enjoy the wonderful colours of summer too. We are fortunate to live in such a green city and especially lucky to find an oasis of even more wonderful foliage so close to the centre of our hometown.
