Another key activity for the wedding photographer during a wedding day is the cutting of the Wedding cake. This wedding took place at the Kenwood Hotel in Sheffield and is one of our favourite wedding venues in the city, in fact one of our favourite venues anywhere. The hotel is set in some beautiful scenery and has the added benefit of being only a mile or so from the centre of Sheffield. It is sometimes hard to believe just how close the city centre is due to the quiet nature of the venue, the lack of traffic noise and the wonderful war atmosphere of the place.
Photographing the cake cutting can be chaotic sometimes as everyone jostles for the best position to get the picture. for this reason we sometime set up a mock cake cutting to allow us to get some pictures in a controlled way, from the best angle and allows us to "stage" the picture to get the best for our couples in a controlled way without the ensuing rugby scrum when we end up fighting with everyone else. It really is the best way to get a decent photograph for the couple.
